What is hibernate function and how to use

What is hibernate function?
The use of Hibernate is energy-saving. It will put computer sytem in stand by mode. This function will shut down harddisk operation for saving energy.

How to open it?
Hibernate is the operating system function in both desktop and notebook.
It can be enable by following this step :

right-click on desktop then choose Properties – > Screen Saver – > Power and then click on Hibernate tab.

* If the Hibernate tab function is unavailable, your computer doesn’t support hibernate feature.
 
What’s happen if i use hipernate function?
Before shutting down harddisk operation, all information for example, program openning, document openning will be transferred from RAM to HardDisk then all operation will be shut down.
When you open your system again, all information will be recovery as same as before you are in standby mode. Please note that notebook which can use this function have to support Hibernate system as well.

However, if your disk drive is FAT32, you will be unable to recall this Hibernate function.

note :
If you enable hibernate function on your computer you must have harddisk space more than your memory because your computer will be reserve harddisk space for this function.

If  your windows XP  with Fast User Switching, the Shut Down menu will show the options to Stand By, Turn Off, or Restart your computer. You must hold down the Shift key, and the Stand By button will change to Hibernate.

how to send instant message dialog to someone on network

This method help you send a message dialog to any user on network by NET SEND command line.

Open command prompt by going to .. start > run > and type cmd

use command “net send”

Example:1
You want to send message “hello this is test msg from IT” to computer machine name “pc1″

follow this command
net send /DOMAIN:pc1 “hello this is test msg from IT” and press Enter

Example:2
You want to send same message to everyone on the network use this command

net send * “hello this is test msg from IT”

The message will be send to everyone

Remark

  • You can send a message only to a name that is active on the network. If you send the message to a user name, that user must be logged on and running the Messenger service to receive the message.
  • The Messenger service must be running for messages to be received. For more information about how to start a service

Refresh all tabs in IE7

This tip is for the IE7 user who like to surf the web with Tabbed Browsing. Normally, when we would like to refresh webpage in which tab, we will go to that tab and press Ctrl+R or press F5 to reload the webpage.

But if we would like to refresh all tabs, most of us will go to each individual tab and press CTRL+R or press F5 to reload each tabbed webpage, but there’s an easier way.

Just right click on any open tab and choose ‘Refresh All’. Then all tabs will be refresh themselves.

Display Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE7) Menu Bar on the top

For the users who are familiar with IE6, after IE7 installation, most of them are surprised where is Menu Bar ?
Actually, you can call on by pressing Alt.
However, if you would like the Menu Bar to be always show, please follow theses instructions :-

  1. Click ‘Start’ then ‘Run..’ (or press Windows+R) , type ‘regedit’ and click OK.
  2. In Registry Editor Program
  3. Go to key ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    • SoftwareMicrosoftInternetExplorerToolbarWebBrowser’
  4. Click ‘WebBrowser’ list to see the list on the right side of program.
  5. Right click on space of the right side.
  6. Choose ‘New’ then ‘DWORD’
  7. Rename ‘DWORD’ to ITBar7Position and then ‘Enter’
  8. Double-click on this list and input value to ‘00000001′
  9. Click OK and exit from Registry Editor.

Close Internet Explorer 7 program. Reopen, now you will see IE7 Menu Bar as same as in IE6.

This method will help you disable or cancle Windows Aero function on Windows Vista 

To cancel Windows Aero function or Transparent Windows Vista in order to recall basic appearance :-

  1. Click ‘Start’ and go to ‘Control Panel’

  2. Click ‘Appearance and Personalization’

  3. Go to ‘Personalization’ and then click ‘Change the color scheme’ to change Windows Vista appearance.

  4. When dialog box pop-up, click ‘Windows Vista Basic’ or if you would like to change to Windows 2000 style, please choose ‘Windows Standard’ instead. Then click OK.

Then your Windows Vista will change to basis appearance.

Disable Unused Icons Notifications

Windows XP users will be annoyed when Windows start then there will be a notificatin on system tray that you have unused icons. This notification will ask if you need help to clean your desktop. If you are disturbed with this notification and want to make it disappear, please do as follows :-

  1. Right click on desktop space.

  2. Choose ‘Properties’, Then click ‘Desktop’ tab.

  3. Click ‘Customize Desktop’ and uncheck box ‘Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days’

  4. Click OK to close all dialog box.

Then, the Unused Icons Notification will not show to make you annoyed anymore.

Rename thousand files at a Click !

Digital camera users might be faced with the problem that picture files from digital camera will start with the same name and follow with numbers. For example, name start with “DSC” and follow with “001.jpg” such as DSC001.jpg, DSC002.jpg, DSC003.jpg, etc.

When you want to copy files from digital camera to computer and want to rename files, you have to rename only one file at a time. It will be waste a lot of time because you may have thousand files. Morever, if you want to copy files into the same folder, some files with the same name will be replaced.

So we have trick as follows :-

  1. Copy all wanted files to computer.

  2. Open program ‘Windows Explorer’

  3. Hilight files you want to change file name.

  4. Right click, then choose ‘Rename’

  5. Type new file name (program will choose only one file) such as ‘myalbum.jpg’

  6. Press Enter.

Program will rename to new file name and run by order number.

This method will help you convert your file system.

What is Difference between NTFS and FAT32.?

Volume size
FAT32 : Volumes size from 512 MB to 2TB. (but Windows XP, you can format a FAT32 volume up to 32 GB only.)
NTFS : Volumes size  from 10 MB to  2TB and range upward. For example, a dynamic disk formatted with a standard allocation unit size (4 KB) can have partitions of 16 TB minus 4KB.

File size
FAT32 : Maximum file size is 4 GB.
NTFS : File size limited only by size of volume.

Maximum files per volume.
FAT32 : 4,294,967,295 files.
NTFS : 65,534 files or folders per folder.

If you want to convert file system following  this step -

First : Close all open applications.

Use command line to convert
“Convert volume /FS:NTFS” (replace volume with drive letter example d:)

That’s it. If there are open files on the volume being converted, you’ll have to reboot your system for the process to complete.

Command Option:
•/nosecurity for reset security can accesseble by everyone
•/X forces volume to dismount first

Go to windows command line or use Windows key + r and type cmd
use command “ipconfig /all” to show your Mac address and ip configuration

Method #2

LAN connection properties
Start menu > Setting > Control Panel
Open Network Connections
Right click Local Area Connection > Status
Tap Support and click Details..
See your MAC Address at “Physical Address” (Sample 00-02-3F-BD-2B-82)

This method will help you backup your outlook 2003 email.

Quick Access Control Panel Menu and Utility by Command Line Part1
- At Menu Tools > Option and go to Mail Setup tab
- Left Click “Data Files”
- Select “Personals Folders” and click “Open Folder…” now you will see New Window Explorer
- Close your Outlook and Copy all files in Folder
- Paste into your Backup Folder (ex. d:\backup_outlook)
End Backup Process

 Import Outlook Mail from Backup file.
- Open Outlook Application.
- Create your Email Account (same Account that you backup)
- go to Menu Files > Import and Export
- Select Import from another or file and then click Next
- Select “Personal Folder file(.pst) and click Next
- Test or Verify your Data first and Delete your backup files

Way to protect your computer Virus from USB Storage Drive

You should turn off auto play for all Drive. (Virus cannot infect your computer automatically)

  • Start Menu > Run Type gpedit.msc (Open Group Policy Editor)
  • Focus on Computer Configuration section sub menu Administrative Templates
  • Click Menu System and Find Policy Turn off Autoplay
  • Click on it Select Enable > Apply
  • Open command line (Window key + r and type cmd)Type gpupdate /force (Refresh your policy immediately)

Or Restart your computer
