How does System restore work?

Windows XP periodically records a snapshot of your computer. These snapshots are called restore points. Windows XP also creates restore points at the time of significant system events (such as when an application or driver is installed) or you can create and name your own restore points at any time. If you?€?ve installed a program that has made your computer unstable, you can open system restore, choose a restore point, and return your computer to its previous stable state.

How to Enable or Disable System restore?

  • Properties My Computer Locate System Restore tap
  • If you want turn off system restore on all drives please check enable it or if you want turn off each drive click drive and click setting.

How to Restore windows by System Restore?

  • Click Start Menu > Programs > Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.System Restore starts.
  • On First page click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.

How to backup windows registry on windows xp or vista

Backup windows xp registry have three methods.

Method1: Use System Restore(windows xp) to create the restore point
- Open System Restore way 1. Start menu > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and then Click System Restore
- Open System Restore way 2. Click Start Menu, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then click OK.
- On Welcome to System Restore page, click Create a restore point, and then click Next .
- Enter name for the restore point and then click Create.
- After the restore point has been created, click Close.

1.1. On Windows Vista - Click Start, type systempropertiesprotection in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
1.2. Wait for Windows to search for available disks and most recent restore points. In the System Properties dialog box, on the System Protection tab, click Create,

Method2:Export Registry

- Open Registry Editer Start Menu > Run and then type regedit
- Go to Menu File > Export..

- Use NTBACKUP Utility Backup System Stage Data
- Start Menu > Run and then type ntbackup
- Use Advanced Mode
- Click Backup Tab Check front System Stage

  • Now Windows Backup will saves a copy of your files. When the backup is complete, click Close.

When you Enable Remote desktop your computer will be open default Remote Desktop Port from the TCP Port 3389.

To Connect remote computer use Remote Desktop to HOST Computer.

  • In the Accessories menu > Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
  • In the Computer box, type the computer name of your host computer or IP Address Host Computer.

Way to disable or remove windows security center alert service on windows xp sp2

How to Disable startup program and Remove windows automatic run

this method help you disable startup automatic program or remove startup unnecessary software when windows startup.

#1) remove startup program from start menu

  •   go to start munu > program > startup
  • right click icon you want remove from startup list and click delete

#2) disable startup from system configuration utility

  • go to start munu > run type msconfig

#3) remove startup program from windows registry

  • Open registry editer go to start menu > run type regedit command
  • Find this key on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

  • Delete list string value that you want remove from startup (may be check other key runonce,runonceex,runservices)
  • restart your computer.

#4) You can ignore windows startup program by press SHIFT key during windows start.



Why my DVD-ROM cannot read or access some dvd disc

this problem will occur when your computer still enable function “UDF file system”
(UDF = Universal Disk Format).

When you try open DVD media you may receive error message “Disc is not support”.

Fix this problem you must Disable UDF file system following this step. (Windows xp)
Edit the registry at your own risk. Make backups before you do this

1. Open Registry editer (start menu > run and type regedit)
2.Go to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Service/Udfs
3. Delete or Rename that key (right click on key and rename)

reboot your computer.



What is hibernate function and how to use

What is hibernate function?
The use of Hibernate is energy-saving. It will put computer sytem in stand by mode. This function will shut down harddisk operation for saving energy.

How to open it?
Hibernate is the operating system function in both desktop and notebook.
It can be enable by following this step :

right-click on desktop then choose Properties - > Screen Saver - > Power and then click on Hibernate tab.

* If the Hibernate tab function is unavailable, your computer doesn’t support hibernate feature.
 
What’s happen if i use hipernate function?
Before shutting down harddisk operation, all information for example, program openning, document openning will be transferred from RAM to HardDisk then all operation will be shut down.
When you open your system again, all information will be recovery as same as before you are in standby mode. Please note that notebook which can use this function have to support Hibernate system as well.

However, if your disk drive is FAT32, you will be unable to recall this Hibernate function.

note :
If you enable hibernate function on your computer you must have harddisk space more than your memory because your computer will be reserve harddisk space for this function.

If  your windows XP  with Fast User Switching, the Shut Down menu will show the options to Stand By, Turn Off, or Restart your computer. You must hold down the Shift key, and the Stand By button will change to Hibernate.
